The Dream Spot!!

(Location: Porcupine Lake, Timmins ON)
My brother sent me this photo from back home where spring flooding has afforded some really cool urban spots to winch. I've asked him to keep an eye on this one, cause I would seriously consider making the trip in the next few weeks....

Fall Down x live art

Last night I was fortunate enough to cop this fresh live art piece by a good holmie, Robbie Lariviere of Fall Down Gallery (288 Bank St. Ottawa ON). Big ups to Robbie and Randy for this one!!

New rails, new fun @ the Derome Cable!

Wow Plaza chez les Derome's is gearing up for a new season with some new rails. They modified the previous flat bar into a sick looking flat up down. The A-frame has been changed as well with the addition of a flat down/up flat section. If this weather keeps up, we will be able to hit these new beauties in no time!! Thanks to www.wake2wake.ca and Marc-André Besner for the update!

Tha-Coop @ Edelweiss Edit

Last Wednesday I took the liberty of renting a car in order to go shred Edelweiss with Matt Castilloux in beautiful sunshine and +12 temperatures. Whatever, it's a win-win if you ask me, I mean just look at the math:

+ car rental: 34$
+ gas: 25$
+ lift pass: 30$ (if paid)
+ a beautiful fucking day
= PRICELESS.

Not surprisingly I met up with a few like-minded individuals and fellow Top teammates Ron Tremblay and Max Honergger, along with Mr. Raised By Wolves Cal Green. Check out this sweet little springtime shred edit they put together, and check 'em out at www.tha-coop.com...PEACE!

Return of the original SKATE NIGHT @ BABYLON 03.14.12

BABYLON x 11 PM x COVER $3 x DJ ACRO x JULIUS MYTH

With the recent blast of warmer weather and a full extra hour of daylight, it's safe to say that winter is finally on its way out. Skateboarders are in the streets sweeping hard, relishing in the joy and return of their four-wheel freedom.

As such, we expect a large and enthusiastic crowd to celebrate the return of Ottawa's beloved SKATE NIGHT, at Babylon Nightclub, after a brief winter hiatus. In order to mark this glorious occasion, Skate Night's brainchild Sam Francis is calling on the Ottawa skate community to help support the Wakefield skatepark initiative; this night is dedicated to raising money for our friends at the Wakefield Skatepark and Sports Pad

Making this night extra special will be the performance of Julius Myth (Queens, NY). Skate Night and Top of the World's resident DJ Acro has been working hard to secure this special guest feature performance. And if anyone is asking what the link is between Julius and skateboarding? Well, our boy Myth holds it down at one of NYC's premiere skateshops  Belief Skateshop and Boutique located in Astoria Queens. And so it follows that Skate Night was just a natural fit for this hip hop skate head.

Check him out and come join us this Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Babylon Nightclub (317 Bank St. Ottawa ON) for some drinks, new grip tape, dope beats, and manny madness!!

Half Cab'n Thailand!

Last month, my good friend Craig McCallion at Half Cab Productions took the liberty of spending his month-long honeymoon odyssey through the lands of Australia and Thailand. (Editor's note: You know you've scored the right girl when she's cool with spending a few days at a cable park AND has no problem taking over filming duties. Big ups to Nicole!)

Anyways, I was super stoked Craig got the chance to check out Thai Wake Park. He was even lucky enough to shred their newest feature (pictured above). But of course the highlight of the park has got to be the kickers, they are simply the BEST! Check out Craig making good use of them with this Nicholas Muller inspired Japan FS rodeo...

Red Bull's Supernatural sneak peak.

Still looking forward to watching the actual event, but why such a long wait? NBC's gotta know that the hype is sure to die down until then; and besides we already know who won. (Anyone catch that leaked video of the top three runs a few weeks back?)...Anyways I just hope that when they do air it on national television March 31st, they will at least spare us with the played out dubstep/super slow-mo/snowboarding tri-fecta.

Wakeboarding and the 2020 Olympics.

Open publication - Free publishing - More wake

Stumbled upon this publication from the International Wakeboard Waterski Federation (IWWF) in order to persuade the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to include cable wakeboarding in the 2020 Summer Olympics.

For those who don't know, wakeboarding has been shortlisted along with eight other sports to be added in 2020. Not sure what the chances are, but judging from this brochure I think it has a legitimate shot of making it. Take a minute, judge for yourself....

Didier + Brothers Factory = ARK2.

ARK2 from BROTHERSFACTORY.COM on Vimeo.
My old wakeboard friend, now turned pro snowboarder, Didier Godbout has been busy filming this season with the boys at Brothers Factory. Stoked to see Dids getting his due, and I can't wait to see what they've been up to. Here's a little sneak peek of what it takes to film with the best...

For more on Didier, make sure to pick up the latest issue of Snowboard Canada and flip to p. 88...

The 1st Annual Standard Classic Shinny Tournament

1st Annual "STANDARD CLASSIC INVITATIONAL" shinny tournament from House Edge Productions on Vimeo.
This past Sunday, my boy Sammy 'Franchise' Francis organized the first annual Standard Classic Invitational hockey tournament to raise money for our favourite outdoor rink located just behind Elgin Street.

The event was sponsored by the Standard Luxury Tavern, local microbrewery Kichesippi Beer Co., and Top of the World. It was a great day of hockey that saw eight teams (Oz/Town, Manx, Woody's, Hooley's, Kichesippi, Top of the World, Fresco, Standard) compete for the ultimate bragging rights and the coveted Kichesippi keg trophy.

Players and spectators alike braved freezing temperatures to join in on the great day of hockey, beer, and community spirit. We were fortunate enough to have had our friend Jessie Carde from House Edge Productions drop in to capture all the action on film and put together this really nice video. Enjoy!

When I was in Thailand, this group of Swedish boys were absolutely killing it off the kickers! No idea where they came from, but hopefully we'll be seeing for of them in the future...(Riders and edit Benjamin Hoppe, Mattias Hoppe, Jeremia Hoppe, and Ken Ekblom Johansson)

Slingshot's artful versatility.

Until summer comes, figured my brother's Slingshot Kine 137 (art by Mike Ennen) would make for an appropriate mantle piece!

New THAILAND edit coming VERY soon...

For the last month or so I've slowly been putting together the follow up to our "One Week in Thailand" edit that was released while we were actually still in Thailand. I've had a lot of fun working on this project. It was such a great trip, and so hopefully this video will do it justice! Stay tuned, if all goes well it should be uploaded and ready to share by tomorrow.

In the meantime, just enjoy the teaser one more time...

X-Games preview with Seb Toots.

Seb Toots is getting ready to defend his X-Games Slopestyle gold medal this weekend. I really enjoyed this video from ESPN who visited Seb at home in Montreal. I was fortunate enough to meet Seb through my friend Yan Tibo, and ride with him at the Beach Club this past summer. What can I say, the kid is super cool and he shreds anything/everything! Hopefully all goes well for him this weekend, make sure to tune in on Saturday night for the slopestyle finals at 9 p.m.
