This video is from a party I did this past November at Babylon Nightclub in Ottawa, ON. Thought it would be a good idea to have a live punk show with a skate contest inside the bar at the same time...and sure enough Top of The World and Babylon we're cool with that. The Feral Child x DJ Acro

My good dude DJ Acro has just released his first full length studio mixtape. The project was backed by Ottawa's own Raised By Wolves and produced by the man himself Cal Green. The mix features many dope hip hop tracks that have been tickling Acro's ear for the last year or so. Give it a listen, download it, and make sure to bump it LOUD at your next party!

And make sure to catch Acro and his versatility as a DJ this coming Thursday for SKATE NIGHT at Babylon Nightclub as he takes the stage with the likes of WE WERE SHARKS and HEAD DOWN for an old fashioned punk show.

Lipsmack goes off!

On friday night my dudes at Half Cab Productions held it down at Babylon Nightclub in Ottawa, Ont., for the Canadian video release party of Slingshot's Lipsmack! With the recent blast of warmer weather and a full extra hour of daylight, it's safe to say that winter is finally on its way out. Skateboarders are in the streets sweeping hard, relishing in the joy and return of their four-wheel freedom.

As such, we expect a large and enthusiastic crowd to celebrate the return of Ottawa's beloved SKATE NIGHT, at Babylon Nightclub, after a brief winter hiatus. In order to mark this glorious occasion, Skate Night's brainchild Sam Francis is calling on the Ottawa skate community to help support the Wakefield skatepark initiative; this night is dedicated to raising money for our friends at the Wakefield Skatepark and Sports Pad. 

Making this night extra special will be the performance of Julius Myth (Queens, NY). Skate Night and Top of the World's resident DJ Acro has been working hard to secure this special guest feature performance. And if anyone is asking what the link is between Julius and skateboarding? Well, our boy Myth holds it down at one of NYC's premiere skateshops  Belief Skateshop and Boutique located in Astoria Queens. And so it follows that Skate Night was just a natural fit for this hip hop skate head.

Skate Night 09.07.11: Together for Carter!

Calling all BROTHERS and SISTERS!

COMING TOGETHER: a SKATE NIGHT for Carter 09.07.11 @Babylon Nightclub from Johny Bonney on Vimeo.

This month's SKATE NIGHT presented by TOP OF THE WORLD will be a very special edition honoring the memory of Carter Antila. For those who may not have known Carter, he is the younger brother of TAYLOR ANTILA, a good friend to the skate community here in Ottawa. Sadly for Taylor, his family, and the skate community as a whole, we lost a special kid in a tragic accident on the night of July 30th, 2011.

It then became apparent to Skate Night brainchild, Mr. Sam Francis, that something needed to be done in the wake of this tragedy. So after speaking with Taylor and his family, they informed Sam of a new skatepark they wanted to build in their hometown of New Liskeard, Ontario. At the end of it all this new skatepark would allow for members of the community to share in Carter's love for skateboarding, and provide kids with a progressive, safe, and fun spot to skate. 

And so with that, on Wednesday, September 7th, 2011, Babylon Nightclub (Ottawa) is set to host a worthwhile fundraiser for Taylor and his family. All proceeds from this month's Skate Night will be donated to help the Antila's develop and build a new memorial skatepark in their hometown of New Liskeard, Ontario.
